Omneo ProxyCache software runs on a variety of operating systems, including Solaris, Linux and Free BSD.  Additionally, because Omneo ProxyCache is a “soft appliance,” you can deploy the software on most industry standard servers such as those from Dell, HP, and IBM.  What’s more, you can enable that same server to also act as a file, print and tape backup server simply by configuring those services from the operating system.  The result is an affordable solution for multi-functional locations where a single server can effectively handle the cache processing load and other server related tasks.

Scalability 

Omneo ProxyCache software scales from a single disk unit to a high-end unit ranging from 200 req/sec up to 5000 req/sec per appliance.

Performance 

Omneo ProxyCache demonstrates the highest performance for both SCSI and IDE disks across FreeBSD, Linux, and Solaris; performance is typically 6-10 times faster than even the highest performance Squid solutions – as much as 3 times faster than the nearest competitor.
