Step 2.
FastTrack Software Client Boot-Up
On the first boot-up of the FastTrack 2.0 client, and automatically, every two days thereafter, A DNS lookup is performed for the following DNS names. The first is hard-coded into the client FastTrack 2.0 software; the remainder represents the clients DNS suffix that was set during DHCP.
- cache.p2p
- cache.p2p.clientname.location.serviceprovider.net
- cache.p2p.location.serviceprovider.net
- cache.p2p.serviceprovider.net
Omneo P2P DNS Resolution
The first DNS to successfully return an IP address is used by the client to connect to Omneo P2P. This method of using a hierarchical caching structure with multiple DNS entries deeper in the DNS structure permits traffic to be segmented to multiple P2P cache servers or server farms. For example of a geographic segmentation:
- cache.p2p.na.serviceprovider.net (for traffic in North America)
- cache.p2p.eu.serviceprovider.net (for traffic in Europe)
